TCF IRN — Expression écrite
The TCF IRN is France's French test for integration, residence cards and naturalisation. Practise the three writing tasks (a short message, an account of an experience and an argued opinion) and get an estimated CEFR level, with B2 as the naturalisation target.

- 30 minutes, 3 tasks: a short message describing a person, place or object (30–60 words), an account of everyday activities (40–90 words), your opinion about a place, object or person (40–90 words)
- Scoring
- Double blind marking: each task gets a level, combined into a mark out of 20 (10–13/20 = B2), reported as a CEFR level
- Level needed
- B1 for a first carte de résident; B2 (written and oral) for naturalisation, since 1 January 2026
- Valid for
- 2 years for residence and naturalisation applications
